Video - Tomboy

A friend had sent me a very old picture of us together, and it made me ache because I saw the young person smiling in the photograph and knew that I was so unhappy at the time.

I sat down and opened my sketchbook and wrote a whole page of thoughts, thinking I'd use them to prompt a drawing, or a comic. After sitting with it for a few weeks I realised that the voice in those words was not going to translate as a still image, it sounded so much like dialogue.

Nervously I approached my friend Toby about collaborating, and making an audio/video piece using what I'd written. A day, a backdrop and some flowers later, we ended up with 'Tomboy'.
